PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Administrative Accountant for Finance will assist in the preparation of the District’s Budget
and the Maintenance of the District’s General Ledger.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A Business Administration Degree with a major in Accounting is required
Knowledge in working with an ERP Financial System
Three years successful experience in accounting or school administration required
Work experience or professional experience, or professional certification that relates to the
nature of the performance responsibilities and which constitute an acceptable addition or
alternative or any of all qualifications listed above
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
• Supervise and is responsible for the overall operation of the Accounts Payable
Department.
• Verifies that all vendor statement reconciliations and financial records maintained in the
Accounts Payable Department are timely and accurately prepared.
• Reconciles due to and from due from Accounts Payable.
• Prepares all bank deposits except for Payroll Deposits.
• Supervises the scheduled preparation and timely distribution of finance payments.
• Prepares 1099’s for submission to IRS.
• Manages and maintains the district’s credit program.
• Prepares the bank reconciliations for the Payroll Account and the Payroll Escrow
account.
• Responsible for the reconciliation of the subsidiary fixed assets and Capital Outlay ledger to
the general ledger balances for completion in a timely manner.
• Follow the guidelines set by GASB 34 on depreciating all items over $5,000.
• Prepare the year end journal entries and financial information for the general fixed
assets.
• Assists the district’s independent auditors conducting the annual audit and other auditors as
required.
• Assists in the preparation of the annual budget.
• Preparation of interim and annual, local, state and federal financial reports.
• Assists in balancing and maintaining the district’s general ledger.
• Assists in the implementation of TEA’s Financial Accounting and Reporting Resource Guide
requirements.
• Supervises, evaluates, and makes recommendations for the employment assignment of and/or
termination of all personnel encompassed within this department.
• Performs all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or to others.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
