ftl?lang=en GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Perform entry level accounting, inventory, and clerical work.
Work involves providing data collecting, recording and documenting support; performing paper and computer research, accuracy verification, tabulating and calculating of arithmetical data, data entry; and related tasks.
May train others.
Work under close supervision with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.
Prepare and post complex accounting transactions to various systems and maintain files of applicable source documents pending verification of entries or closure of transactions.
2.
Conduct inventory of stock and review inventory control records and reports.
3.
Compile and maintain various inventory databases, tracking systems, logs, transactions, and records.
4.
Dispose of surplus inventory and ensure proper documentation and policies are followed.
5.
Maintain accounting records or purchases, assign inventory numbers to items, and maintain inventory and stock control records.
6.
Reconcile various reports, statements, and tabulations with their applicable source documents by identifying individual discrepancies and researching data sources to rectify errors, enter omissions, or make judgments.
7.
Prepare data summaries for accountant’s use during reconciling and in preparing annual financial statements.
8.
Participate with accountants in reconciling various journal entries in collecting, tabulating, and calculating data for inclusion in annual financial statements.
9.
Audit and proof assigned registers, vouchers, and related documents to verify accuracy of entries, calculations, totals, and completeness prior to or after posting to action or archival records.
10.
Provide information on inventory processes and procedures to customers.
11.
May train, guide, and monitor the work of property custodians and/or temporary contract employees.
12.
May maintain total books (revenues, disbursements, all transactions and periodic reports) for employee groups that maintain small or transient cash balances.
13.
Will require significant travel within assigned region(s) and may require occasional overnight stay to include weekends and/or evenings.
14.
Attend work regularly and observe approved work hours in accordance with agency leave and attendance policies.
15.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS: Education – Graduation from a standard senior high school or the equivalent.
Experience – Two (2) or more years work experience in general office work that includes emphasis on inventory control, bookkeeping, or accounting operations.
Licensure and/or Certification – If driving is required, must possess a valid driver license from state of residence.
Regulatory / Inventory Knowledge – Inventory control processes.
Bookkeeping theories and practices.
Perform numerical detail work accurately and rapidly.
Working knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly assimilate information related to TXDPS, State and Federal regulations, legislation, guidelines, policies and procedures.
Interpersonal Skills – Must demonstrate an ability to exercise poise, tact, diplomacy and an ability to establish and maintain positive, working/professional relationships with internal/external customers.

Technology (computers/hardware/software/operating systems) – Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), and appropriate levels of proficiency with utilized software and systems and be able to learn new software/systems.
