Job Title: Construction Manager
Reports To: Director of Network & Fiber Construction
Department: Construction
FLSA Status: Exempt
*Up to 25% overnight travel may be required, hotel and travel expenses provided by Vexus.
Regional travel will be required.
(Vexus will reimburse approved travel expenses) The Construction Manager will oversee and coordinate various FTTH construction projects from start to finish, ensuring that schedules and budgets are followed.
The Construction Manager is responsible for all OSP engineering, OSP inspection, and contractor/sub-contractor activities in their assigned markets.
They will also be responsible for development and coordination with contract partner management and their associated sub-contractors.
The Construction Manager will be responsible for project oversight during the construction phases, ensuring the Vexus construction team is holding contractors to HSE, OSP design, and general Vexus construction standards.
Duties and Responsibilities: On-site telecommunication fiber network construction management Excellent interpersonal, coaching, managerial, and leadership skills.
Responsible for Engineering and OSP Inspection staff in assigned markets Provide project leadership and management responsibilities for overall construction schedule.
Ensure contractor activities comply with company design and budget expectations.
Ensures as-build records and systems remain accurate for completed serving areas, updating as needed.
Ensure that all construction activities comply with Right-of-Way, Utility Easement, Road, State, County & Parish permits and ordnances (sp) Management of contractor activities on multi-unit dwellings and special construction projects.
Maintain day-to-day communication with the Director of Construction and other management.
Coordinate with Project Management, Engineering Management, and Field Inspection team members to assure completion and accurate implementation of design and related construction documents.
Will be proactive in anticipating and initiating jobs so they are complete on time Organized and familiar with construction tracking methods and data management.
Monitors work in progress and assist inspection and contractor teams with project advisory as needed.
Promotes a positive company image to customers, co-workers, contractors, management, and others.
Attends various meetings with management, departments, contractors, government agencies, vendors, and others to ensure company objectives are being met.
Required Skills and Abilities: Extensive construction knowledge, fiber telecommunications OSP systems, fiber-to-the-home (FTTH), hybrid-fiber coax (HFC).
Good listening, verbal, written communication skills, and above average mathematical and problem- solving skills.
Skilled in prioritizing, multitasking, identifying problems and finding resolutions Ability to communicate with customers, co-workers and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner.
Ability to be highly motivated and meet deadlines, perform under stress and achieve optimum results.
Ability to work with frequent interruptions and pay close attention to detail and accuracy.
Maintain strict confidentiality guidelines in accordance with company policy Demonstrate dependability through good attendance, punctuality and adherence to timelines and schedules.
Ability to work effectively as a team player and exude a positive attitude Able and willing to continue business skill development, training, and schooling as needed.
Proficient in Microsoft Office program, OSP record data base applications, and computer aided drafting systems.
Ability to perform field site meets, meet with developers, customers, and local agencies.
Must be proficient in MS Office applications.
Skilled with ArcGIS, Autodesk AutoCAD, KMZ.
General understanding of utility line locating tools and applications, utility locating equipment, and use of Optical Time Domain Reflectometers (OTDR).
General usage of OTDRs, OPMs, VFLs and other field tools to establish and maintain robust connectivity in a fiber optic environment.
Education and Experience: Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, or an associate degree in an Engineering discipline preferred with minimum of 3 years of OSP Construction experience.
