36 hourly - Position Type: Seasonal Status: Open Until Filled Job Description Under general supervision and procedural control from the Aquatics Superintendent, the Pool Manager exercises administrative and supervisory direction of all daily operation of his/her assigned areas.
The Pool Manager is responsible for implementing specific programs as assigned.
Employee has supervisory responsibilities for the actions, job performance, supervision and monitoring of all assigned employees and program participants.
The Manager should have a "public health" point of view, observing and studying all phases of the outdoor recreation operation, with an eye toward maintaining high health and safety standards.
Employee prepares recurring reports and records, which are sometimes technical.
Decisions are made daily on a variety of items ranging from simple to complex.
Employee provides continuous service to the public which requires courtesy, tact, and diplomacy and has full responsibility for directing, assisting and evaluating job performance of all guards assigned to his/her assigned facility.
Job Responsibilities 1.
Assists in the preparations of programs and the distribution and enforcement of all rules and regulations as assigned by immediate supervisor.
2.
Performs functions at various locations including, but not limited to: Aquatic facilities, McAllen Nature Center and Fireman’s Park.
3.
Oversees and assists maintenance order in all outdoor recreation facilities 4.
Assists in recruitment, selection and scheduling of all pool personnel.
5.
Serves as the lead person for program site and is the primary administrator of emergency services in case of accidents 6.
Keeps and maintains records of all participants and personnel records of employees.
7.
Supervises and assigns duties to staff, aides, volunteers and other temporary personnel.
8.
Keeps daily inventory of all emergency equipment and office supplies and reports any items needed for daily operation to the Aquatic Superintendent and Pool Coordinators.
9.
Reports potentially hazardous and unsafe conditions to the pool coordinator or Parks and Recreation Department.
10.
Helps prepare programs and staff schedules.
11.
Assists in preparing programs and accomplishes programs while providing a great experience.
12.
Assists in meeting overall program objectives, safety and quality.
13.
Attends all in-service training sessions scheduled by superiors.
14.
Assists the Superintendent of Aquatics in any phase of facility operation and other related tasks as needed.
15.
Assists on other projects, special events, and job related tasks in the department.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Minimum Requirements - 1.
Open to applicants 18 years of age or older.
2.
Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent, and one semester (12 credit hours) of college credit.
3.
Must present certificate and have current certification in American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, which includes CPR, AED, First Aid, and Oxygen.
4.
Must have a minimum of five (5) seasons with two (2) summers included in a aquatics leadership position such as a lifeguard, swim instructor, coach, etc.
5.
Must be knowledgeable and capable of properly using cash register, safety whistle, swimsuit and various office equipment associated with the operation of swimming pools.
6.
Must exhibit special leadership qualities and ability to work with superiors as well as subordinates.
7.
Must be able to complete physical duties as required by the position.
8.
Must be able to meet the public in a courteous manner, using tact and diplomacy.
Physical Requirements 1.
Employee works outdoors under various weather conditions with unusual hours or shifts and is on call (waiting to be engaged to work) when not on duty.
2.
Work involves sitting, standing and swimming and demands physical strength and agility normally associated with superior swimming and life guarding techniques.
Additional Information 1.
This is a safety sensitive position which may be subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
2.
This position has supervisory responsibilities.
3.
This is a part-time seasonal position.
4.
Position may require working weekends, evenings, holidays, and events as needed.
