SUMMARY
The Director of Transportation is an experienced project manager who manages a design team, coordinates with clients, and leads delivery of transportation planning and/or design projects.
In addition to project development and delivery responsibilities, the candidate must demonstrate the ability to manage budgets, schedules, sub consultants, teaming relationships and client interaction.
The Director of Transportation will also work closely with the division VP of Professional Services to meet divisional sales goals and business metrics.
They will be responsible for leading business development activities for the transportation division.
Salary range : Minimum of $85,000.

Duties & Responsibilities
Lead the business development activities for the growth of a Transportation Division within the firm.
Develops and maintains client relationships and teaming opportunities for business development.
Provides project management oversight and applies engineering expertise in the daily operational tasks of preparing Plans, Specification & Estimate (PS&E), preliminary engineering reports, schematic design, drainage design and TCPs for roadway projects.
Experience in designing highway and freeway design projects (PS&E), including horizontal and vertical geometry design, use of Bentley OpenRoads Designer (ORD) modeling, creation of ORD templates, culvert and drainage design, retaining wall design, quantity calculations, miscellaneous details and development of deliverables.
Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines.
Provides supervision of other professionals and administrative staff including providing guidance in prioritizing and organizing work assignments of team members.
Management of project costs, schedule and personnel staffing for completion of successful projects.
Qualifications
TxDOT Precertifications
Experience with and knowledge of TxDOT funding, design and construction standards, specifications, policies, and procedures.
Provides positive relationships with potential clients in South and Central Texas such as TxDOT, RMA, MPO, and municipalities.
Experience with TxDOT funding programs, their agreements, and associated schedules/deadlines.
Education and Experience:
Bachelors or Masters of Engineering degree from an accredited program.
Licensed Texas Professional Engineer (PE)
6+ years of work experience within the field of highway design, transportation engineering and program management

Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine.
Significant standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, reaching, crawling, and handling, sitting, pushing, and pulling.
