We care about people, and that includes both our residents and employees! A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PARKS SUPERVISOR As a Parks Supervisor, you spend your day delegating assignments to volunteers, grounds keepers, park laborers, light and medium equipment operators, and crew chiefs as needed daily.
Your work typically involves inspecting parks, playgrounds, equipment, and any public facilities that fall within the Parks Divisions' responsibility for safety purposes on at least a monthly basis or as directed.
Your job is essential to the city, you ensure that all vehicles related to the Parks Division are generally inspected every morning prior to operation.
You are constantly on your toes and ready for any new and unexpected challenges that may arise in the city.
This can include submitting periodic reports on payroll, monthly activities, projects, and other areas as required, and coordinate with employees and the upper level supervisor to purchase needed equipment, supplies, and materials.
When you are not out in the city, you establish and enforce training and a job safety program to include proper use and maintenance of all hand and power tools, mobile equipment, procedures and first aid.
You enjoy being helpful and have no problem providing assistance and support to other divisions within the department as needed.

Preferred: Associate's Degree in related field.
Additional education and experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be substituted for the above requirements.
Requires one (1) year experience in parks maintenance setting with knowledge of general park maintenance work, equipment operation, construction, minor plumbing, fundamentals of irrigation, and other related areas.
Preferred: Three (3) years' experience in related field.
Herbicide and Pesticide Applicators Certification.
Must have a current valid class "C" driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety with a satisfactory driving record Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test administered by the City of Edinburg at the city's expense Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
