POSITION SUMMARY:
As member of our Team, the HIM Lead is responsible to oversee all aspects of the HIM Department.
Participates in key communication efforts and builds strategic working relationships with HIM personnel, department leadership, and hospital leadership.
Responsible for ensuring that department meets regulatory and Joint Commission requirements.
Partners with Director in the development of strategy, specific goals, objectives, budgets and performance standards for the facility HIM functions.
POSITION EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS:
High school graduate /GED certificate or equivalent is required.
Student or Graduate of HIM program (RHIT) strongly preferred.
Management experience preferred.
Must have excellent customer service skills.
Computer skills required with knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
Good written and verbal communication skills required.
Texas Driver’s License under clear status with the DMV required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
Two (2) years HIM operations/management experience preferred.
One (1) year in Hospital HIM experience is strongly preferred.
Working knowledge of computers systems is strongly required.
Should process thorough knowledge of principles and practices of Medical Record Science
Should be familiar with the electronic medical record with a preference in Cerner experience.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITES:
Assist in the coordination of the Health Information Management department by providing leadership to the HIM staff in the day to day operations.
Assist in the selection, training, and orientation of HIM personnel.
Creates and maintains the daily staffing schedule, flexing up and down with the volume without incurring overtime.
Assist in the consistent administration of established departmental policies and procedures.
Coordinate staff meetings and attends other meetings as assigned.
Performs 30-day, 60-day, and 90-day evaluations while on probation period at time of hire
Perform quality assurance reviews and submits findings timely to staff member and Director
Assist HIM Director and Manager in developing process improvements to address QA findings.
Monitor the delinquent chart count; works with the team to maintain regulatory compliance.
Complete assigned projects within specified time frames maintaining a high degree of quality.
Effectively communicates and maintains a professional relationship with physicians, peers and administrative staff.
Demonstrate good conflict management skills.
Monitors staff time in Kronos on a daily basis.
Round with the staff once a month and document findings
Ensure personal and departmental adherence to Compliance Program, both Hospital and Revenue Cycle.
Must comply with all Policies and Procedures including confidentiality of Patient Health Information
Perform other duties as assigned.
