Sunny Glen Children's Home Job Description Job Title: Assistant Lead Clinician Department: Clinical Department Supervisor: Lead Clinician FLSA Status: Exempt Prepared By: Human Resources Department Summary The Assistant Lead Clinician at Sunny Glen Children’s Home is responsible for assisting the Lead to provide oversight of mental health/counseling services for the clinical department.
The Assistant Lead Clinician will assist in training new clinicians and continue to monitor clinicians’ overall functions and job duties.
They are expected to provide guidance with mental health interventions and are responsible for ensuring the clinical team adheres to strict deadlines and time-frames with reference to record-keeping and assessments/screenings conducted by the clinical department.
The Assistant Lead Clinician will abide by ORR, state, and other contractual guidelines and timeframes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assists with oversight of the clinical department including individual and group counseling services to Unaccompanied Children while in the care.
Conduct mental health assessments, screenings, as well as trafficking screenings in rare cases.
Completely well wrote, clinical documentation.
Adhere to all timeframes & deadlines as per state, ORR, and internal policies and procedures.
Provide crisis intervention.
Provide on-call coverage based on program needs.
Assists in providing continuous training for the clinical department.
Assists in coordinating with third-party contracts, ORR, and other outside service providers to share and staff all pertinent information and updates on Unaccompanied Children and mental health status.
Demonstrates thorough knowledge of professional and clinical skills.
Must abide by Sunny Glen Children’s Home’s mission of giving nurturing, trauma-informed care to children from difficult backgrounds.
Abide by internal policies and procedures.
Stay within Minimum Standards Abides by TBRI and Handles with Care Maintain appropriate boundaries.
Attend training and meetings, as scheduled.
Possess sensitivity to the residents’ cultural and socio-economic characteristics.
Be a positive role model for residents.
Participate in licensing investigations accordingly.
Assists in coordinating all referrals, service planning, and client documentation for assigned caseload (clinical assessments, incident reports, progress notes, etc.
) Participate in weekly staff/team meetings and training.
Participate in workshops, seminars, education programs, and other activities that promote professional growth and development.
Meets with each child on caseload at least once a week or more as needed.
Prepare, compile, and submit accurate documentation in case management software.
Continually assess ongoing changes in behavior, circumstances, or conditions that may affect child safety or well-being.
Monitors child’s services, ensures all required services are delivered, and sets and attends appointments with outside mental health services.
Maintains a clinical, therapeutic, and trauma-informed view of each child in his/her caseload and helps staff develop this perspective.
Assess client progress toward risk reduction, achievement of treatment goals, and positive case outcomes.
Maintain accurate records, files, forms, statistics, and additional relevant information in accordance with agency policy, licensing, and/or funding requirements.
Work the on-call rotation to assist with campus emergencies and clinical needs.
Assist in training Clinician staff.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
