Responsibilities: - Assist attorneys in preparing legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and briefs - Conduct legal research and gather relevant information for cases - Transcribe dictations and prepare accurate and timely written documents - Maintain case files and organize documents for easy retrieval - Schedule appointments, meetings, and court hearings for attorneys - Communicate with clients, witnesses, and other parties involved in legal matters - Prepare and file legal documents with courts and government agencies - Assist in the preparation of trial materials and exhibits - Perform administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, and answering phone calls Skills: - Strong knowledge of legal terminology, procedures, and documentation - Proficiency in conducting legal research using various resources such as Lexis-Nexis or Westlaw - Excellent transcription skills to accurately transcribe dictations and create written documents - Familiarity with legal case management software or systems - Ability to interview clients and gather relevant information for legal cases - Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and prioritize deadlines - Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all legal documents and correspondence - Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment - Knowledge of litigation procedures and experience in assisting with trial preparation Please note that this job description is not exhaustive and additional responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs of the firm or attorney.
