Job Summary: The Assistant Early Learning Lead supports the Early Learning Leads and Early Learning and Inclusion Leads to ensure full implementation of all aspects of AVANCE’s early learning system, policies/procedures and tools, with the goal of supporting all children to achieve School Readiness Goals.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Supervise and coach teaching staff (teachers, assistant teachers, floaters, substitutes and extended day.
) Work with teachers to implement program curriculum with fidelity.
Work with teachers to implement child assessment systems reliably, including understanding child outcomes data and using them to plan and individualize.
In the absence of an Early Learning Lead or an Early Learning and Inclusion Lead, serve as education lead for a site, overseeing implementation of all aspects of education services and providing teachers with supervision, training, coaching and monitoring until the ELL or ELIL returns Supervise or coordinate with the Family Services team to ensure full implementation of family services and parent involvement (in consultation with the Director of Family Service/Family Services Coordinator).
Support with supervising center staff, ensuring completion of all human resources activities, and compliance with relevant policies and procedures.
Actively participate in Head Start/Early Head Start community, including staff meetings, mandated training, committee meetings, and other program-wide functions as needed, including some evening activities.
Ensure complete and accurate implementation of all AVANCE’s required systems for recordkeeping and reporting Review weekly, quarterly, and annual child outcomes data and oversee teacher planning to help all children make developmental gains.
Serve on the leadership team of AVANCE’s affiliate program, attending regular meetings and occasional retreats.
As needed, serve as operational lead for the center, ensuring compliance with all program policies/procedures and Head Start/Early Head Start, licensing or other regulations Participates in assigned meetings, events and training as required.
Supervision Supervises assigned department personnel includes the following responsibilities, but are not limited to: hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, and ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and the completion of all work performed by direct reports.
Educates direct reports on all department and agency policies and procedures.
Meets with assigned staff at least monthly to identify and resolve problems, manage projects, track goals, and review work processes and procedures.
Represents team and/or department at meetings, events, and training as required.
Non-Essential Duties: Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements Associate’s OR Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education OR state awarded preschool teacher certification with experience teaching preschool aged children OR Associate’s OR Bachelor’s degree in related field with at least six college courses in Early Childhood Education plus experience teaching preschool aged children At least one year of experience with supervision, management or coaching Experience managing an infant/toddler or preschool program Experience with inclusion of children with disabilities Bilingual in Spanish and English Physical exam and background checks are required for this position.
Travel required locally or long-distance up to 10% of the time for work-related meetings and functions.
Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Knowledge of infant/toddler health and safety licensing requirements (if applicable) Experience with collaborations and community partnerships (if applicable) Experience in Fiscal management/budget preparations (if applicable) Ability to interact effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
Demonstrated computer literacy skills, using MS Office applications and other basic data systems including internet navigation.
Must be honest, dependable and able to meet deadlines.
Self-motivated and able to work independently.
Physical Requirements: Ability to sit most of the time with some bending and reaching.
Ability to stand, walk, and bend periodically.
Ability to engage in repetitive movement of wrists, hands, and fingers typing and/or writing.
Ability to work frequently at close visual range (i.
e.
preparing and analyzing data and figures, accounting, transcription, computer terminal, extensive reading).
Ability to receive and respond to oral communication.
Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
Work Environment: Work is generally performed in an office environment.
Noise level in the work environment is moderate to occasionally loud (examples: business office with computers and printers, light to moderate traffic, human voices).
Standard office equipment generally used includes: Telephone Personal Computer (monitor, keyboard, and mouse) or Tablet Printer/Photocopy Machine Calculator Fax Machine May be required to operate a motor vehicle during the course of duties.
