0 FLSA Exempt Scope of Job To coordinate the operation of student success programs or initiatives, which include the Graduation Help Desk, Graduation Recovery Initiative, and Countdown to Graduation workshops, exercising independent judgment and authority as required.
Responsible for all phases of the program, including budget recommendations, program selection, staff supervision, recommendations for future planning, and innovation.
Description of Duties Coordinates programs or initiatives to ensure that implementation and prescribed activities are carried out in accordance with university goals and objectives.
Supervises and manages the day-to-day activities and personnel of the assigned programs and initiatives.
Supervises and organizes workshops and presentations for student populations.
Investigates student inquiries and provide consultation over university policies and procedures related to the specific inquiry or concern as well as solution-oriented recommendations.
Serves as a key resource for students, faculty, department chairs, and campus partners/leaders to collaborate with on finding solutions to complex problems and to consult with over topics related to retention, progress, graduation, or student success.
Analyzes records of trends in student issues and makes recommendations to university policies, procedures, or practices as needed.
Conducts tracking, progress monitoring, and analysis of student populations to facilitate retention, degree progress, or completion.
Develops high-quality programs or initiatives to move the needle on student success outcomes and supervises the implementation of multiple projects, initiatives, or programs.
Develops, cultivates, and maintains working relationships with university and external departments, partners, and stakeholders to support students and promote student success.
Prepares regular reports, proposals, manuals, or other documentation for management use or as required for projects, initiatives, or programs.
Reviews programs or initiatives records and reports of activities, recommends modifications to procedures, and may supervise implementation as required.
May participate in budget planning and is responsible for controlling expenditures in accordance with budget allocations for assigned programs or initiatives.
May assists leadership in writing and developing proposals for funding grants.
Coordinates long and short-term programs, initiatives, or projects, and performs feasibility studies and cost projections.
Represents department in official functions.
May plan, develop, and organize, surveys or focus groups to gather student insights.
Attends meetings, conferences, trainings, and seminars related to student success.
Provides ongoing staff training and development, on site demonstrations and field-based experiences related to programs or initiatives.
Conducts formal training or gives instruction regarding program or initiative goals, tools, resources, and university policies and procedures as required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervision Received General direction from director of student success initiatives or assigned supervisor.
Supervision Given Supervises assigned staff.
Required Education Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
Preferred Education N/A Licenses/Certifications None.
Required Experience Three (3) years of experience performing closely related duties, including program planning/coordination or related experience in the appropriate field of the program, or One (1) year of the required experience with a Master’s degree, or Five (5) years of the required experience with an Associate Degree or 60 hours of College Credit, or Seven (7) years of the required experience with a High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Experience N/A Equipment As specified for the particular job.
Working Conditions Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties.
Normal office or classroom or outside environment.
Some travel and weekend work is required.
UTRGV is a distributed institution, which requires presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley.
Particular project or program may require ability to drive a car for local or distant travel for consultation, training, meetings, or on site demonstrations.
Must be able to bend, stoop, reach and lift for retrieving/maintaining files and for setting up multimedia equipment.
Must be able to move between buildings, offices and classrooms.
Other Ability to interact in a professional manner with faculty, staff, students, administrators, and the public.
