We seek applicants who are dedicated to serving The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley’s diverse student body as a Part Time Lecturer of SIBCS beginning in the 2023-2024 academic year.
We are looking for individuals with experience teaching a various number of courses and laboratories that support our Biology or Chemistry undergraduate programs.

Department/College Background About the Department: The School of Integrative Biological and Chemical Sciences at UTRGV, located on the Edinburg and Brownsville campuses, is composed of faculty and staff committed to research and education in the life sciences.
The mission of the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Department of Biology is to educate, train and diversify the next generation of leaders and life-long learners in the area of biology.

Minimum Qualifications The minimum qualification to be considered as a Part-Time Lecturer is a Master’s degree in Biology, Chemistry or a related field of study (with a minimum 18 credit hours in Biology or Chemistry related content) from an accredited institution.
Discipline Specific Required Qualifications Commitment to Teaching Excellence Preferred Qualification Previous experience teaching at the University level and Doctorate Degree Salary Part-time Lecturers are paid per course taught commensurate with experience and/or qualifications.
Employment is based on deprtmental enrollment needs and budgetary approval.
License or Certification Required? No Number of Vacancies Various throughout the year, based on need.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
Please Note Texas law requires faculty members whose primary language is not English to demonstrate proficiency in English as determined by a satisfactory paper-based test score of 500 (computer-based of 173 or internet-based of 61) on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or a satisfactory test score of 6.
