Details: This position requires the employee to frequently work a flexible schedule and 40 hours per week over six days, including weekends and holidays.
This position will work special assignments at times management is absent.
Job Description
Under general supervision, the Apprentice Golf Professional provides customer assistance, cashiering and golf services, as well as office clerical and administrative work at the City's Golf Course and maintains and prepares recurring records.
Employee assists with the coordination of work schedules and activities of one to three other employees, as directed by the Director of Golf.
Most of the decisions are guided by existing policies and regulations, but occasionally, requires the use of personal judgment.
Provides and requires complete knowledge of the game of golf, golf course operations, clerical and computer applications.
Position requires daily interaction with the public and the use of tact and diplomacy.
Employee is expected to be able to maintain his/her own work schedule efficiently and productively.
Job Responsibilities
1.
Books tee time reservations on a daily basis and is responsible for the collection of all usage fees.
2.
Utilizes established policies and some personal judgment to oversee golfer traffic on the golf course.
3.
Works closely with volunteer staff to enforce the established Pace of Play Policy and efficient operation of the Golf Facilities.
4.
Responsible for daily cash receipts and account for safe keeping of all cash receipts according to established policies and procedures; complete daily reports.
5.
Assists in the scheduling of employees and completion of administrative paper work regarding department employee sick leave, vacation, etc.
6.
Work closely with organizations and clubs in scheduling tournaments and outings.
7.
Assists with golf training services.
8.
Collects statistical information, reviews, verifies or corrects, and completes a record or form, then routes for further processing or files the record or form.
9.
Assists in the recommendation and enforcement of policies that will help strengthen the financial position of the golf course and City of McAllen.
10.
Answers the telephone and provides customers with general golf information and services.
11.
Operates city vehicle, cash register and general office equipment such as computer, copier, and calculator.
12.
Assists in the implementation of new ideas and projects, which encourage maximum golfer participation.
13.
Opens mail, collects fees and types routine correspondence, letters, requisitions, lists, etc.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Minimum Requirements -
1.
Job requires an accredited high school diploma or GED equivalent.
2.
Job requires general knowledge of high school subject matter including courses in mathematics or one (1) year of experience/training in the golf business.
3.
Job requires complete knowledge of the game of golf and the ability to perform equipment maintenance and/or operations, report preparation and general information.
4.
Job requires a current, valid Texas Class C driver's license.

Job may require lifting up to 50 pounds.
