This is a historic photo of an " Excursion " to South Texas by the leading land company W.
E.
Stewart Land Company .
Potential investors were brought to the Valley to show them the opportunities available here .
Business, farming , living
in a warm climate etc .
The week long excursions were headed up by a man named Chas Ladd .
I've had several of these
photos and he is usually in the front of the photo .
Here, he is lying on the ground with a cowboy hat on and a cigar in his
left hand .
You can read more about this bigger than life salesman and the Stewart Company on the internet .
This shot shows men, women, children, telephone lines, cars, buildings and palm trees that would go on to become the vibrant Rio Grande Valley .
Not blurry and much better than these photos with reflections and such .
It measures 38.
5 inches overall and is in very good shape .
Framed by me .
It is much sharper in person and without the reflections here .
You can clearly see the expression on their faces and other 1920 details .
.
Piece of Texas history .
I have one other similar to this .
Great for a restaurant, school.
any business with a Texas personality .
Or simply someone who loves Texas history .
