Sunny Glen Children's Home Job Description Job Title: Youth Care Worker Department: Child Care Supervisor: Shift Leader FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Summary The Youth Care Worker is responsible for the direct supervision of all minors.
During their assigned shift, they always provide continuous direct line of sight supervision to their assigned children and ensure quality care for all children as well as follow all contract agency policies.
Assist children with their valuables, clothing, laundry, and appointments.
All services shall be provided in accordance with established standards, principles, and ethics of the profession, applicable professional specialty organizations, and high-quality standard for which Sunny Glen Childrens home is recognized.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
Provides direct supervision of children in care and maintain line-of-sight at all times.
Provides oversight during recreation, mealtime, relaxing time, and play.
Assists during transition and movement of children from one activity to the next and one physical location to another.
Interacts with children in an appropriate manner, including playing games or during recreational time.
Ensures that all contract agency policies and procedures are adhered to.
Ensures quality care for all children residents and timely response to UAC needs.
Ensures that all childrens needs are provided for such as protection of valuables, clothing distribution, laundry services, etc.
Provides reports to the manager regarding childrens needs, activities, and documentation of time/location.
Maintain safe, secure, and healthy environment for the minors by following recommended and legal medical standards of care.
Alters assigned supervisor of any medical concerns in relation to the assigned children in care.
Attends appropriate internal and external meetings.
Able to evacuate at short notice to accompany residents possibly to a different city for several days at a time.
Performs duties in a safe matter.
Follows the corporate safety policy.
Participates and supports safety meetings, training, and goals.
Identifies close calls and/or safety concerns to supervisory.
Ensures the safety and security of all children and the operating conditions within the area of responsibility.
Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications Must be Bilingual in English and Spanish with the ability to read, write, and speak.
Pass Pre-Employment background check such as but not limited to Abuse and Neglect (CAN/Child Protective Services and criminal background checks.
Must work collaboratively with other staff members, service providers and professionals.
This position is physically active and requires standing, walking, running, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing during assigned shift(s).
Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
Education and Experience: Minimum of a High School Diploma or its equivalent.
At least 1 year experience with children in child welfare, medical, or social service settings required.
Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office, Paycom.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations CPR/First Aid, 15 passenger van, Handle with Care, TBRI, and all other DFPS mandated training (training on the job).
Valid Texas Driver's License Have a record of tuberculosis screening showing the employee is free of contagious TB.
