Performs highly complex technical accounting and purchasing support work for Valley Metro Maintenance Department.
Work involves performing detailed assignments in recording, classifying, examining, and verifying purchases and financial records, documents, or reports.
Work also involves purchasing and procuring commodities and equipment and services.
Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment within the scope of assigned job duties.
Classifies, codes, posts, and organizes documents and records.
Compiles statistical, accounting, or auditing reports and tables pertaining to received inventory, accounts payable and, reviews.
Prepares and reviews purchase orders within allowable purchasing thresholds.
Reviews and tabulates bids and orders to determine lowest and best bids or bids that provide best value.
Tracks the status of requisitions and purchase orders.
Assists with researching and reconciling discrepancies in accounts, or appropriation balances, and reports findings.
Maintain and assists with the preparation of operating reports within scope of work assigned.
Orders and assists with an annual inventory of equipment and supplies.
Assists with tracking invoices to ensure payments are made.
Assists with determining operational minimum and maximum inventory levels.
May audit field operating reports, invoices, requisitions, estimates, purchase orders, and similar records.
May assist in monitoring the budget.
Performs related work as assigned.
Experience with accounting or bookkeeping principles.
Graduation from a standard senior high school supplemented by college coursework in accounting is generally preferred.
Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
Valid/Current Texas Driver's License
Generally accepted accounting principles and procedures affecting the maintenance of accounting records and automated accounting systems.
Skill in use of office equipment, computers, and associated software applications.
Ability to review work for accuracy, to accurately perform detailed numerical work, to make arithmetical computations, to prepare financial and accounting records, and to communicate effectively.
