Accounting Specialist
Summary/Objective
Under general supervision, but in accordance with established policies and procedures, is responsible for maintaining the financial records for the organization including the posting of various ledger entries, and the completion of various schedules and reports to management on a regular basis in an expeditious, accurate and efficient manner.

1.
Support the Controller and Accounting Staff by maintaining accurate records, including ledgers, journals, receipts, and invoices.
2.
Receive purchase requisitions and review for clarity, accuracy, and completeness; assign appropriate codes; process purchase requisitions and collect source documents.
3.
Review credit card transactions for accuracy and legitimacy, collect source documents, and record transactions in the general ledger.
4.
Reconcile general ledger accounts, including vendor statements, by researching and correcting discrepancies.
5.
Review and record daily reports, then review monthly and quarterly investor reports on FICS and prepare a report for management.
6.
Assist the Accounts Payable Coordinator by receiving and processing payment for all accounts payable invoices as needed.
7.
Maintain records, input data entry, and submit monthly reports to FHLB.
8.
Ensure compliance with Davis-Bacon Act and submit required reports to various funding agencies.
9.
Create and submit invoices to various housing authority agencies.
10.
Assist the Accountant with audit schedules and accounts payable related requests from auditor.
11.
Cross-train with other staff, including loan servicing to assist as needed.
12.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education / Certification and Experience
1.
Graduation with an Associate Degree from an accredited University or College in Accounting or Finance.
2.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the accounting field, preferably in construction or lending.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
1.
Fluent in English and Spanish language in both written and verbal styles.
2.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
3.
Working knowledge of database software; Internet software, accounting software, spreadsheet software and word processing software
