15 Maximum PAY GRADE: PS4 PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Bookkeeper is responsible for accounting procedures and financial documents as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification: Associates Degree in accounting or related field preferred College course work in accounting-related subjects preferred Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of accounting principles and practices Knowledge of bank reconciliation preparation Ability to perform cash management procedures Ability to use calculator (10-key by touch) Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets and word processing Proficient skills in typing, keyboarding, and file maintenance Proficient organizational and communication skills Ability to work with numbers in an accurate and rapid manner to meet established deadlines Drivers’ License and vehicle Experience: One to three years of accounting or bookkeeping experience MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: • Prepares financial documents as directed.
• Posts purchase orders and payment authorizations.
• Processes purchase orders.
• Balances vendor statements as needed.
• Keeps accurate records of clubs/organizations revenues and expenditures.
• Keeps sponsor informed on their monthly balance.
• Writes locally-issued checks and maintains financial records.
• Maintains confidentiality.
• Keeps balances on purchase orders.
• Makes daily deposits or as necessary.
• Prepares Bank Reconciliation Statement and required reports on a timely basis.
• Oversees student organization’s account balances.
• Posts student organization activity to financial system.
• Attends mandatory bookkeeper meetings and trainings.
• Prepares and retains documentation for record keeping and audit purposes.
• Count money and prepare receipts.
• Performs work in accordance with student activity fund accounting handbook, and other district policies and procedures.
• Performs all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or to others.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
