Job Title: Campus Bookkeeper Wage/Hour Status: Nonexempt Department: Campus Reports To: Principal Approved By: Board of Trustees _________________________________________________________________________________________ SUMMARY: Assist the business manager in the administration of the district's business affairs.
Perform general bookkeeping and maintain district financial records.
QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED EXPERIENCE: Two years of college course work in accounting-related subjects One to three years of accounting or bookkeeping experience CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS: As required by the Texas Education Agency OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of accounting principles and practices Ability to use calculator (10 key by touch) Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets and do word processing Proficient skills in typing, keyboarding, and file maintenance Ability to work with numbers in accurate and rapid manner to meet established deadlines Ability to interpret policy, procedures and data ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Accounting Maintain complete and systematic records of district's financial transactions.
Record details of financial transactions in appropriate journals and subsidiary ledgers.
Maintain subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions.
Maintain general ledger by transferring subsidiary account summaries.
Examine all computerized general ledger transactions daily for accuracy; make corrections as needed and inform business manager of problems.
Compute and record cash receipt summaries.
Balance general ledger and subsidiary accounts by reconciling entries.
Work with bank officials to make inquiries and resolving discrepancies in account records.
Transfer funds between accounts as directed by business manager.
Records Prepare financial statements, income statements, and cost reports to reflect financial condition of district.
Assist business manager with preparation of financial statements and budget amendments for presentation to board.
Maintain physical and computerized files and records.
Other Maintain confidentiality.
Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
Participate in meetings and special events as assigned.
Exercise professional judgment in absences; be punctual to work, meetings, and appointments.
Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Occasional absences are understood but regular attendance is required.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk and talk or hear.
The employee frequently is required to stand and sit.
Repetitive hand motions and prolonged use of a computer is required of this employee.
The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Frequent districtwide and state travel is required.
This job requires the ability to handle and balance multiple demands at the same time.
This position also requires meeting deadlines with severe time constraints, interacting with the public and staff and enduring irregular or extended work hours.
The employee must maintain emotional control under stress.
