Job Summary
The General Service Coordinator is responsible for planning and/or performing a variety of routine and complex analytical, clerical, administrative and technical work for the Weslaco Airport.
The position is responsible for the overall smooth and effective operation of administrative functions of the airport and assisting other staff members in accomplishing their missions.
Primary duties include organizing and coordinating office operations and functioning as the initial point of contact for airport services.
Essential Job Functions
Answers questions from the public and other department personnel, provides general information regarding airport operations and policies and procedures.
Prepares agenda item forms for all board and committee meetings related to the airport as well as for City Commission.
Assists in various special programs as assigned, attending meetings, handling related correspondence, maintaining records, serving as liaison, assisting the public, and providing related assistance and answers to questions.
Assist the Director in the preparation and administration of the departments operating budget.
Responsible for interviewing and recommending personnel to fill position vacancies.
Develops and maintains all department records, files, correspondences, and subsequent reports relative to the department.
Maintenance and updating of department files, records, and databases.
Oversees and performs purchases for the department including acquiring price quotes from venders and the preparation of purchase orders.
Prepares and oversees all regular department reports.
Serves as the department's records management liaison.
Produces quality correspondence and other routine documents, memos, vouchers, requisitions, bid documents and contract documents.
Maintains Texas Department of Transportation files.
Notarize city documents for department(s).
Schedules appointments as required.
Maintain regular and prompt attendance, physically present to work.
Performs other similar or related duties as assigned.
Employee may be required to work beyond normal business hours at night and/or on weekends.
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
Must have an Associate's Degree and three (3) to five (5) years of prior work experience in an office setting; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Valid Class "C" Texas Driver License and be insurable.
Must pass pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen at City's expense.
Must successfully complete Emergency Management and Incident Command Training within first three months of hire date.
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Knowledge in common policies, practices, and procedures of the department, and office operations.
Knowledge in laws and regulations pertinent to position functions.
Knowledge in business, English, spelling, grammar, office software applications and business arithmetic.
Ability to meet and deal with the public effectively and appropriately.
Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to operate a computer.
Ability to maintain, manage and organize records while maintaining confidentiality.
Proficient customer service skills, computer skills, business mathematical skills, clerical skills, bookkeeping, and recordkeeping.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer with intermittent periods of stooping, walking, and standing.
Occasional lifting, moving, or positioning objects up to 30lbs.
Little or no physical demands required to perform the work.
Requires routine reading of documents and reports for understanding.
Work is performed in a typical office setting.
Noise or physical surroundings may be distracting at times due to constant interruptions.
At times disgruntled citizens can make the work environment intense and threatening at times.
